I started writing an early and laughable version of Breathing Underwater in college I was really bored on a car trip with my parents.

I thought it was very well done how Flinn managed to have me invest myself in the reading and by the end I was really feeling underwager Nick. As a pastor working in a neighborhood with the highest concentration of murderous gang activity in Los Angeles, Gregory Boyle created an organization to provide jobs, job training, and encouragement so that young people could work together and learn the mutual respect that comes from collaboration.

Nick’s character ultimately does this, but it isn’t without reasonable weight that I think will resonate with readers long after they finish the book. Twelve Angry Men By: Thankfully, the author of this book doesn’t turn the ending into a typical Brady Bunch one, nor does it hold an “Afterschool Special”-esque romp through a serious issue. Over the course of a steamy and tense afternoon, 12 jurors deliberate the fate of a year-old boy alleged to have murdered his own father. But when things start to spiral out of control, Nick must face the fact that he’s gotten more from his father than green eyes and money.

Intelligent, popular, handsome, and wealthy, sixteen-year-old Nick Andreas is pretty much perfect–on the outside, at least. Caitlyn got her wish, but as the restraining order was put in place, Nick kept a journal. Great read and excellent reader! He also demonstrated some stellar character growth.

It made you feel sad for all types of characters, while being so frustrated at them at the same time. But to create change like I suspect the author was dree to do, I think it fails miserably. Now, Caitlin stares forward.

Do you begin with the powerful message the story conveys? I don’t like books that are written for YA that try to “capture” what it is really like in high school. It seemed to “wrapped in a pretty package” to me and I think that high schoolers will see right through it. I was born on Long Island and grew up on a street called Salem Court.
