Another great novel by Maggie Stiefvater, this author can do no wrong!
It’s not a page turner like Lament and it’s not poetic like Shiver, but still it was a decent story. Entertaining as well as enjoyable. I hated the ending, but I did like James as a character he was quirky enough to be interestingeven Nuala. A really good spin off novel following an other character which I loved a lot.

James was the character I liked best in Lament, anyway. James is a well-drawn character, with quirks, snark, and witticisms that fully embody him.
And she would be the absolute bitch Nuala thinks she is if stievater didn’t have those messages to tell us what she’s repressing. The thing I liked the most was that Dee wasn’t the main character. Most of the insight into what was going on with Dee was revealed through text messages typed but never sent to James. First thing that struck me with this story was “why magyie they at that school? Nuala was a bit problematic, being a leanan sidhea sort of succubus-muse who latches onto young men with talent and feeds off their life force. Dee is a jerk. Eagerly awaiting to fulfill my craving of James, I mean!
Because Hallowe’en on her sixteenth year is the night she dies. It definitely feels dates. That ballqd added a lot of suspense to the novel and was crucial to the plot. Can’t recommend this one.
